What this course actually says

A decision made too soon gets to be made again.

The predictive versus agile argument is a phasing argument wearing a methodology costume. Predictive says decide early, at the point of maximum leverage. Adaptive says decide at the last responsible moment. Neither is a philosophy. Both are answers to a timing question, which is why arguing about them in the abstract never settles anything.

Deciding too late has its own bill, and it is the one adaptive teams underestimate. Options close. Dependencies harden. We will decide later becomes a way of never deciding.

Say when each significant decision on your project should be made, and design the phases around that instead of inheriting them.

Three modules, one month

Nobody chose this. Trace where your process came from. Who chose it, when, for what project. Most PMs cannot get an answer, and that is the finding.

The last responsible moment. Put three live decisions on a timeline and find the point past which each stops being reversible or stops being yours. Then find the one you were about to make too soon.

Phasing on purpose. Agile does not exempt anyone. Sprints are phases. The question was never whether to phase, only whether anybody picked where the boundaries go.
