How do I renew the PMP and earn PDUs?
The short answer
To maintain your PMP, you must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every 3 years. You need a minimum of 35 Education PDUs, a maximum of 25 Giving Back PDUs, and at least 8 PDUs in each Talent Triangle area.
PMI requires continuous learning to ensure certified professionals stay current. The 60 PDUs must align with the PMI Talent Triangle.
- Education (Minimum 35): You must earn at least 8 PDUs in each of the three Talent Triangle areas: Ways of Working, Power Skills, and Business Acumen.
- Giving Back (Maximum 25): You can earn optional PDUs by working as a practitioner, volunteering, or creating project management content.
Once you have earned the required 60 PDUs, you submit your renewal fee to PMI to maintain your active certification status for another three-year cycle.
