Eligibility & Application

What happens in a PMP application audit?

The short answer

If selected for an audit, you must provide physical or digital proof of your education, your 35 contact hours, and signatures from supervisors verifying your listed project experience before you can schedule the exam.

According to PMI, audits are primarily random, functioning as a quality control mechanism for the certification process. Being selected for an audit is a routine procedure.

If audited, candidates generally have 90 days to submit the required materials:

  • Copies of a diploma or global equivalent.
  • Signatures from supervisor(s) or manager(s) on experience verification forms.
  • Certificates or letters of completion for the 35 contact hours.

Once the materials are submitted, PMI's published process indicates a review turnaround of about 5 to 7 business days.
