Eligibility & Application

Can I get the PMP without a bachelor's degree?

The short answer

Yes. You can earn the PMP with a high school diploma, GED, associate degree, or vocational degree, provided you have more project management experience (4 to 5 years) to offset the educational difference.

A four-year degree is not a strict requirement for the PMP. PMI provides pathways for professionals who have developed their project management skills through hands-on career experience.

If your highest level of education is a high school diploma or global equivalent, you must demonstrate 60 months (5 years) of project management experience. If you hold an associate degree or a vocational equivalent, the requirement is 48 months (4 years).

Candidates in these pathways must still complete the standard 35 contact hours of project management education, or hold an active CAPM certification.
